June has a packed calendar in the Pacific Northwest, there’s a lot happening in our local Vancouver, BC racing scene! Our weekly criterium season is in full-gear, Canadian Masters National Championships are in Victoria BC June 7th, 8th and 9th. While on the other side of the country Canada’s hardest stage race the Tour de Beauce preludes Elite National Championships in the same region a week later. With so much going on it’s hard to keep track, so here’s what we have on our radar this month.
We summed up the events we’re heading to in June, want to see your event featured on our calendar? Fill out this quick form and we will share your event with our subscribers.
If you’re a Vancouver Local, every (dry) Tuesday Escape Velocity Cycling hosts their WTNC series, if you missed it, check out our interview with Ryan Cousineau about the history of the WTNC. And every Thursday Coastal Race Club races in Richmond (there may be some, beverage, primes from one of their sponsors!).
May 29-June 2nd - Cascades Cycling Classic Returned after a one year Hiatus, the internationally respected and feared CCC returns to Bend Oregon. Proving ground for the top pros in North America the CCC also features racing for Cat 2s, Cat 3/4, Masters and Juniors fields.
Jeff Werner @ 2018 National Championships, Victoria BC
June 7-9th - What must surely be the highlight of BC racing for June, the Robert Cameron Law Cycling Series is hosting the Canadian National Masters TT, Road Race and Criterium Championships. Victoria BC will welcome riders from across Canada for a second year for three amazing courses. The Time Trial takes place on Dallas road, riders to Victoria will be familiar to the fast, technical circuit that provides no place for recovery. The Metchosin Road Race is arguably the hardest course in BC, designed to select a true Champion through attrition and tact. And Sunday finishes the weekend off with a Criterium around the historic Legislative Assembly of British Columbia right on the Victoria Harbour waterfront. Also, the TT and Criteriums feature racing for Elite riders as well! - the Road Race is for Masters Riders only.
June 15th - The second edition of the Vancouver is Awesome Grand Prix! Presented by Bicicletta, and well, Vancouver Is Awesome. This criterium circles Jonathan Rogers Park in Mount Pleasant, which makes it a perfect destination for a picnic to watch BC Riders battle out the Provincial Criterium Championships. This may be one of the most sought after jerseys for the year, with the Elite riders hoping for call ups in the Champions Jersey at July’s Superweek events.
June 19th-23rd - Tour de Beauce. You might be forgiven for thinking ‘What a nice pleasant town and countryside to host a bike race’ but anyone who’s participated will tell you, Tour de Beauce is ANYTHING but pleasant. Canada’s hardest stage race is only for the pros and elite who’ve earned their way to racing with some of Canada and the world’s best bike racers. We watch some of our athletes from BC make the journey every year and we wish everyone at the race the best luck in proving themselves against the cream of the crop!
June 20-30th - Tour of America’s Dairyland Racing in North America wouldn’t be complete without Criterium racing, and with 11 races in 11 days you can do a whole seasons worth of racing in Wisconsin during ToAD. If you’re looking for a road trip of epic bike racing proportions, look no further. Need more information? Ask some of the Crit Nasty team about their experience at ToAD over on their Instagram.

June 27-30th - Elite Canadian National Championships we’re not sure if we need to explain this one. But we are excited to see who’s awarded National Criterium Champion on Canada Day! Oh yes, don’t worry, there’s TT and road events during the weekend as well.
June 28-30th - The Baker City Classic. Four great stages over three days, with two road stages, a TT, the race really unfolds on the last day. Checkout Stage 4 on their website to see what we’re talking about.
June 30th - And squeezing one more Criterium option in on the last day of the month, the Proctor Station Criterium in Tacoma Washington is a great event, a perfect tune-up for BC Superweek coming up fast in July!
